Eastgate Square Receives Prestigious Maple Leaf Silver Award

Congratulations to our client  Eastgate Square! 

 The International Council of Shopping Centers has awarded Eastgate Square a prestigious Maple Leaf Silver Award. This award was presented to the Marketing Director of Eastgate Square, Barbara Miele, during the 2011 ICSC Canadian Shopping Centre Awards Ceremony, which took place on October 20, 2011 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

Rotary Travelogue – Off to a Colourful Start!

The Rotary Club of Dundas 51st Travelogue Series got off to an exciting start this month with Fran Reidelberger’s  film “Colourful Mexico” which took the attentive audience on a spectacular journey through Mexico’s famous Copper Canyon. 

The next date for the Rotary Travelogue is Tuesday, November 15th  at 7: 15 p.m. in Dundas Central Public School Auditorium (corner of Melville & Albert Streets).   Admission is $8 at the door or $32 for a season pass for five travelogue shows.  Funds raised through Travelogue go to Rotary’s Campaign to Eradicate Polio.

Empress Eugénie and the Arts: Politics and Visual Culture in the Nineteenth Century

On Tuesday, October 5th, Professor Alison McQueen, held the Canadian book launch of her new book, Empress Eugénie and the Arts: Politics and Visual Culture in the Nineteenth Century.   The  book launch was held at the Gallery on the Bay in Hamilton. Professor McQueen’s research on Eugénie has taken her to France, England, Spain, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Egypt and the United States where  this past February, she presented a paper “Empress Eugénie and representations of Fashion in Second Empire France” at the College Art Association conference in New York City.

Quilt Artist Micheline Godbout Turns a New Leaf for Dundas Studio Tour

Six years ago child psychologist Micheline Godbout moved to Dundas, purchasing a beautiful century cottage on Cayley Street, dating back to  the 1850’s.

This October 1stand 2nd, she is taking part in the annual Dundas Studio Tour as a tour artist and studio location host.  It all fits perfectly with the Studio Tour’s theme of Turning a New Leaf.

Actually Micheline turned a new leaf in 2002 when she took her first quilting class and literally became hooked on the art form.

Kristina Kirkwood Turns a New Leaf for the Dundas Studio Tour

 

 

Turning a New Leaf is the theme of the upcoming Dundas Studio Tour to be held on Saturday, October 1, and Sunday, October 2, and with two new studio locations and some thirteen new artists the annual tour is certainly turning a new leaf!

One of the new studio locations on the Tour this yearis that of artist Kristina Kirkwood.  Kirkwood, herself turned a new leaf when she moved to Dundas from Burlington with her family some five years ago.
